Whoaaaaaaaa, what is Joe Biden so angry about? Geez, the way he went off during his speech when he started sounding like Dustin Hoffman playing Michael Dorsey while also playing Dorothy Michaels in Tootsie. As she glides down the staircase to settle a score with Dr. Brewster, the angry female quickly begins to emerge. Dorothy could not contain her contempt for Teri Garr, who brilliantly played the femme fatale, Sandy, and whose weakness in the face of male condescension in characters played by Dabney Coleman and John Van Horn quickly brought him to anger.
Dorothy’s classic lines were, “But she was deeply, deeply, deeply, deeply, deeply, deeply loved by her brother. It was this brother who, on the day of her death, swore to the good Lord above that he would follow in her footsteps, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just owe it all up to her. But on her terms. As a woman.”
These lines could have been received the way they were intended only if they were delivered by a man. It takes a man to have sympathy for the burden women must bear and vice versa. Only when you walk in someone else’s shoes can you really say you understand them and can therefore have sympathy for them.
However, here we have Joe Biden delivering an angry speech in Springfield, Illinois today. How do I know that he is angry? Simply put, when he started repeating the words “ever, ever, ever, ever, ever” when describing how he would differ from the Republicans I could not help myself from feeling that he was Dorothy Michaels. Biden, the angry woman trapped in a man’s body.
Maybe this finally tells us what Obama is about. His wife definitely comes across as angry at America. His preacher is a totally angry man. And now his pick of a vice-presidential running mate is an angry guy as well. Why is Biden so angry? Contrast him with Lieberman and maybe you can tell the difference between them. At least Lieberman who is Jewish lives his faith, whereas Mr. Biden’s Catholicism is contrasted by his own support of abortion. I can only imagine what other conflicts he is dealing with that is angering him. After all, the evidence of his bellicose nature is the stuff of media legend.
Biden is clearly at odds with himself, and the whole thing just plain disturbs me. I don’t want some angry guy yelling at me from a podium. I much prefer the soft-spoken McCain, and I genuinely am impressed by his long suffering nature as evidenced by the years he spent in a Vietnamese prison camp. As for Obama, he has defined himself by the people he keeps close to him. He is angry, and frankly I am frightened to death of such people.
