Watch incredibly as the media takes up for Rosie O’Donnell even though her show is canned after only one episode. Regardless of the fact that O’Donnell is at her best as a media spectacle when she is promoting anger, what this says about the media itself which backs such tripe is what is really important to watch here. The talking heads in this clip actually admit that the foundation of O’Donnell’s appeal is the way in which she displays raunchy anger and contempt. This is the media at its best by stereotyping gays and lesbians as angry and having an ax to grind with society, which is the viewpoint that helps the media make inroads into consumers where they need to sell advertising. The media is more than willing to heap this kind of victim mentality onto viewers who crave it because it also mirrors people’s own anger and sense of victimization. Psychology 101, folks. Again, this should not come as any news to anyone who dares to think for a moment that they are being manipulated by the media as they high-five one another.
