Cal’s Jahvid Best goes in for the TD against Oregon St. last night in Berzerkley, Californication…
Yet, the news focuses on the concussion Best received from this leap into the end zone rather than what the final score of the game was. You see, it’s all about the players getting the crap beaten out of themselves on teevee, that is, until it comes down to the playoffs in which football becomes a giant national betting pool complete with stated odds, a price for entering into the pool, and some kind of fantasy promise that if you win then you are really going to get something. Meanwhile, there are symbolic half time shows that pass as some kind of pseudo-patriotic entertainment starring Hollywood stars desperate for a contract. However, it’s all about being able to feel “connected”, because all those people who are into this shit can sit around and have the teevee going at full blast as an excuse for getting drunk and at the same time not doing any chores around the house or going to the office to catch up on work. And then when some guy does some kind of acrobatic back flip stunt and then lands on his ass head first, everyone can say they saw it. Well, here it is in case you missed it. Notice the Allstate sign behind him. We hope that Best is in good hands. He should be grateful that this thing wasn’t worse. And he should stop pulling these stunts in the future.
